I purchased a girls’ Schwinn Stingray for my daughter off a clearance rack. When I got it home and polished it up I noticed it is missing one of the dice valve covers. I called around and no one seems to carry them in the right color-magenta. I could easily put the chrome ones on there but I would really like to find some that match better. The bike is dark pink which fades to bright purple. Either of those colors would be best. Any ideas???
Accessories for Schwinn “lowriders”?
Help! Looking for a good bike for a 10 yr old boy who is big and not physically adept.
I’ve been looking at a couple of bikes that are styled so he can put his feet flat on the ground when he sits in the seat, and that have pedals forward of the seat so he can balance more easily. Got him a 20″ Stingray OCC on Ebay for a decent price, but it was too small. Looking at 20″ Electra RatRod, but scared to commit again with no “hands on” trial. We live in a smaller town, so very limited selection locally – our bike shop selection runs to $500 to $2000 bikes, not what a first-year teacher can afford even for a special kid.
What brand of bike is this? Schwinn Stingray?
I recently purchased an older 20″ street/casual riding bicycle at yard sale this past weekend. There are no labels on the bike to tell me what brand of bike this could be. We had suspected it to a Schwinn Stingray. The bike was repainted by the previous owner, so I can not see any serial numbers. It is a single speed bike with a pedal brake system. I noticed that the bars that run across the sides of the frame near the top taper at the tips near the neck. Whereas on a Schwinn they seem to not taper at all. I’m just curious as to what kind of bike this could be. Murray, Huffy, something else? Can you help me?

This is the only picture I have of it at this time.
(Last link I used didn’t work)
The person I bought it from said that he thought it was a Schwinn but that there were copycats made around the same time the original Stingrays were made. So he wasn’t exactly sure if it was or not. Why would the side rails be tapered when in all the Schwinn pix I see they are not? Also the mount for a rear brake sytem is traight but on the Schwinn pix I have viewed is curved? Is it the year that I’m looking at?
If it is a CCM…do you know the name of the style of the bike. I am just curious as to the history of this bike. If it’s worth about $30-$40 in current condition I got a decent deal. I paid $15 for it!
I still like the design of the bike regardless as to whether it’s a Schwinn or not!
